A Wonderful Discussion on Climate Change

Lyn Tolar presenting the Topic.   Photo credit: John Etheridge

Last night the Greater Putnam Interfaith Council sponsored a discussion about the Spiritual Implications of Climate Change. The discussion was presented by Lyn Tolar of GPIC. It was a successful evening of like-minded individuals who care about the effects of Climate Change locally and globally. The last section of the presentation brought to our attention how important our values and our faith are to ending the catastrophic effects of global warming for all humanity. Faith can give us the strength to look beyond the gloom of this serious issue and give us guidance to tackle the 21st centuries biggest task within our lifetime.

We concluded that we could act locally and think globally. We are planning on making efforts in our community to raise awareness and make definitive changes for the betterment of our citizens health and lives. In the end, there was a consensus that we needed further opportunities to create action steps to work together within our faith communities. If you would like to be involved in these discussions please contact Lyn Tolar through her email at tolar@infoResolution.com. Please visit the Greater Putnam Interfaith website to learn more about our council.

Thanksgiving Dinner and Service

The mayor and state representatives were on hand.

The president of Putnam Science Academy welcomed us all.

The food was delicious as always.

Cheryl Kapelner-Champ helped start the Service.

John Etheridge was the MCee for the night.

This was the 2nd annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Service held at the Putnam Science Academy. The evening was a celebration of the diverse community of Putnam both in it's faith and cultural diversity. The service was a fitting occasion to the beginning of the holidays. We'd like to thank Putnam Science Academy for hosting the event. We'd also like to thank the sponsors: Peace Island Institute, Putnam Lions Club, Putnam Rotary Club, and all the help from the students at Putnam Science Academy as well. It was a wonderful event.

Daily Bread Thanksgiving Food Drive

This weekend volunteers prepared and organized the food donations for Thanksgiving baskets. The food will be given to over 300 needy families for Thanksgiving. Thanks to all the volunteers for coming out and helping. Being able to feed these families is a little miracle that Daily Bread performs each year.
